In 1973\, Rig Gelfand began working with Maharishi in Seelisberg\, Switzerland — the former international headquarters of the Transcendental Meditation Organization. Since then\, he has assumed innumerable roles in Europe\, North America\, and Asia. \nAn Unparalleled Education: \nJoin us to hear about the priceless experiences and insights gained by taking on challenging new roles and living in different countries. Rig Gelfand: \n\nServed as Maharishi’s personal secretary from 1974 to 1975.\nTaught three teacher training courses in Switzerland from 1975 to 1979.\nSpent four years as director of housing\, overseeing our headquarters in Seelisberg and international courses with over 4\,000 course participants across 40-50 hotels in Switzerland\, France\, Germany\, and Italy—akin to running a multi-national organization.\nTaught TM in several cities in Canada\, as well as Washington D.C.\, Paris\, the Philippines\, and Hong Kong.\nHeld various positions from 1990 until 2005 at Maharishi International University (MIU)\nBecame the athletic director for the Maharishi School.\nCurrently serves as the Director of Safety and Security at MIU.\n\nRig is a gifted leader with an infectious sense of humor. SUMMARY:Experience Circle — Exploring Ordinary Experiences of an Extraordinary Nature
DESCRIPTION:With TM Teachers Anne-Mareike Chu\, Mark McCooey and Special Guests Harri Aalto and Rod Falk \nOur monthly Experience Circle provides a platform for TM practitioners to share their journeys toward growth\, inner peace\, and higher states of consciousness. By learning from each other’s experiences\, we can accelerate our progress and continue to evolve. \nWe begin our session by interviewing TM practitioners who have experiences in the direction of Higher States of Consciousness so that their words might trigger a resonance with our own experiences\, which\, at times\, can seem too abstract to understand fully. \nAfter our chat with our guest\, we will enjoy conversations with our Zoom participants about their experiences in a “circle format\,” going from one person to another for a brief insight into their current experiences. \nOur special guests this week will be Harri Aalto and Rod Falk. Harri and Rod\, both Canadians by origin\, and both now living in Fairfield Iowa\, will share some beautiful experiences of Higher States of Consciousness as articulated by Maharishi. Harri is a successful artist and businessman as head of Aalto Marble Inlay\, specialty designers for marble designs\, and Rod has been a senior manager at MIU for over 30 years. Both bring their unique insights into the development of Higher States. Harri is the author of several books on this fascinating topic and speaks about Heaven with his feet firmly on the ground. Rod speaks clearly about experiences all in the context of Maharishi’s knowledge. DESCRIPTION:With TM Teacher John Cowhig and Special Guest Harris Kaplan \nThe Raja (Global Leader) of the TM Organization in India \nHarris Kaplan\, a native of Westmount\, near Montréal (and cousin to Leonard Cohen)\, has led a life of dedicated service. He and his wife\, Arlene\, served as directors of the Montréal TM Centre and were pioneering figures at Canada’s first in-residence TM facility\, Académie Château Lac-Beauport. After teaching TM full-time\, Harris transitioned to the financial sector\, where he had a successful career as a fund manager. \nOver those years\, he remained in tune with the activities of the global TM organization. But over the years\, Harris and Arlene had travelled to India for ayurvedic treatments and had developed a deep appreciation for the Vedic Pandits and a keen interest in their well-being.\nRaja Role and the Brahmananda Saraswati Trust \nWhen Harris retired from finance\, he was trained as a Raja (Global Leader)\, initially serving as Raja of Canada. Dr. Hagelin has published extensively on particle astrophysics\, unified field theory\, dark matter\, and cosmology. He is responsible for the leading Grand Unified Field Theory based on the superstring — a theory that was featured in a cover story of Discover magazine. \nDr. Hagelin has spent much of the past quarter century conducting scientific research into the foundations of human consciousness. He is a leading authority on the effects of meditation and brain development\, on higher states of consciousness\, and the use of collective meditation to defuse societal stress and promote societal peace. \nWe commonly understand dark matter to be some mysterious invisible substance spread across space that accounts for most of the matter in the universe\, vastly dwarfing all the matter we can see\, all the stars\, galaxies\, and clusters of galaxies. But Dr. Hagelin believes that dark matter has potential significance to human life. Specifically\, he thinks dark matter may cluster around the human body\, forming a kind of subtle body\, and may even play a role in the connection between mind and body. He and a group of physicists and students at MIU have begun researching this hypothesis\, with encouraging initial results. \nDr. Hagelin received his A.B. summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1975 and his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1981.
