The Revival of the Vedic Tradition
Sun, July 6 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT
With TM Teacher Helen Engelson-Law.
According to Vedic knowledge, each day dawns with a different quality of Nature’s intelligence. On these auspicious days in the Vedic Calendar a specific quality of Natural Law is most awake and enlivened.
Guru Purnima is known as the day of the Guru, once a year on the full moon of July, we celebrate and honour our teachers. In the TM organization we pay homage to Guru Dev, Maharishi’s Guru.
Symbolically celebrated during the full moon, this is the message that Guru Dev has revived through his teachings: fullness of life.
This fullness of life comes from accessing the innermost self, Atma. Without living that deepest level of our own Being, daily life becomes a bit lifeless. Because it is lived without its basis, much like a ship tossed about at sea when it doesn’t anchor itself.
Guru Dev was known to have often cited the Upanishads verse, ‘The knower of the Self crosses the ocean of sorrow.’ This was indeed Guru Dev’s message — to attain knowledge of the Self through direct experience of it is the goal of life, offering Transcendental Meditation as the technique for achieving that direct experience.
